People say that one who doesn’t eat non-vegetarian deprives himself by wonderful varieties and their flavours. Well! think what a vegetarian can always ask in an order – regular thing prepared and decorated differently that’s it? Well I am a vegetarian and have limited choices but yet I expect those limited items to be presented differently so that I give myself an excuse to try something different, which is obviously not. My expectations on items are so obvious because what else can I do. On my last visit I asked for regular item Paneer and who cares what the name of item was. Unlike me hubby ji had lots of choices like, chicken, prawn, meat etc. He took almost 20 minutes to figure out which one he should try this time and finally the time came he settled for sea food- a fish, now is that it? Just a fish, I giggled and concentrated on ice chilled breezer. The food was plated, Paneer had different texture this time, but the same taste, I started gulping. On the other side I could see a stark fish relaxing widened on his plate and ready for a slaughter. “I can only see a fish and nothing new in it, what makes you eat it?” I wondered while sipping my breezer. He began cutting it from the middle and displayed me the stuffing inside it. Before I vomit, I sipped my breezer and resume my Paneer task. He told me that fish can be made in another way, I said as in “presentation”. He said “No” and continued, “Peel off the skin and remove bones from the inside, wash the rest and cut it in square shape, do coating of garlic, ginger and lemon on it and give it a rest on barbeque and here you are done with it.” My mouth was open and about to say wow. He continued, “There are many tips to make this dish perfect that I probably cannot teach you but Google can.” I controlled my emotions and threw my tantrums on him and closed the topic.
But guys if you see TLC channel or any other food channel which has awesome chefs from all over the world showing their culinary skills on all types of cuisines drives me crazy. I don’t know whether I should go for it or limit myself.
